“I quit reading home school magazines years ago when a mother wrote in about how her 18 month old had a heart for the unsaved Asian children of the world. 18 MONTHS old! At the time, my 18 month old was sitting on the back porch picking the fuzz out from between her toes!"Its all good and so funny because of the truth of the whole matter!
And speaking of homeschool, I'm still tutoring 4 hours a week and right now I'm busy testing Peter to see exactly where he stands so I can order his curriculum for fall. I wish I could say that the kids are busy reading and keeping intensive nature journals of their time spent outside but alas, nothing is further than the truth,. Peter spends all his time swimming in the pool and playing video games and Tink thinks summer is one big social hour complete with sleepovers and cozy talks on the deck in the warmth of the summer midnight!
I vacillate between making her do school work and telling myself she will only be 13 for one summer so let her live, laugh, and love and be young.
I'll be updating more regularly on this site real soon!
I'm thinking that if we could just stop comparing everybody so intensely, we'd be more supportive people. No one feel supported when they get one-upped like that... I know just what you mean.
ReplyDeleteMay God bless you, Mrs. D, and may you all have a lovely summer.
I loved that article!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great article! Exactly why we are stepping back from our group this year.
ReplyDeleteHA! I just had a coversation with my minister cousin about how homeschoolers would have you believe that if you're doing it right your children won't go through phases and you won't have problems relationally, etc. His response was, "OH~you mean there won't be SIN?" LOLOL! Very timely piece. (((((HUGS))))) sandi
